According to Gender Inequality Index (statistics about human development by ONU), too often, women and girls are discriminated against in health, education, political representation, labour market, etc.—with negative consequences for development of their capabilities and their freedom of choice. One important element in this setting is education and it is especially crucial in the early years when children are vulnerable to any influence. Due to my concern about this issue and knowing that education can be a strong weapon to stop this dimension in which women are disadvantaged, I would like to formulate a question: Is our education gender-equal? And more specific, is our musical education gender-equal? I will use this research to focus on the second question and, in case the answer is negative, find strategies to develop a conscience and a responsibility on teachers in order to achieve an egalitarian way of teaching.

The Work

Several studies have produced a fairly convincing body of evidences that our society is not gender-equal.
